A very charming species from a truly beautiful group of North American woodland plants commonly called "Frigid shooting star " . Dodecatheon are related to primroses and require similar conditions with a nice rich soil kept moist in Spring. D. austrofrigidum has a basal clump of leaves up to 30 cm long by 7 cm wide and have smooth wavy or somewhat toothed edges. Foliage is soft and rounded and not unlike the leaves of primula. . With good care and frequent light fertilizing flowering can be achieved in as little as 18 months from seed sown in Autumn or Winter. Another magnificent perennial!!
