Gentiana Punctata " Spotted Alpine Gentian " x Fresh Seed

One of the most exquisite plants of the Alpine Balkans. Very shiny , lush , oblong shaped green leaves and large 7 to 10 cm upright goblet shaped flowers born from the upper leaf axils in Spring. Flower color varies from pale yellow to almost red with the very attractive spotting being less noticeable in darker colors. G.Punctata is found in alpine meadows in full sun at 2000 to 3000 meters above sea level and is only recommended for cold and cool-temperate climates with good winter frost or snow. It enjoys reasonably rich heavy soils that are moist throughout Spring and in cultivation seems to be shade tolerant as well. Not recommended for warm climates.
